AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The road to Narai district is eastern Kunar province is blocked over the past four days. Residents of the district said militants are targeting civilians on the road. According to reports, the Taliban militants have planted bombs on this road.
Officials in the district said they will soon take all necessary measures to ensure security of this route.
Sher Zamin, a member of Kunar Provincial Council told BBC that civilians in the district cannot use the road due to bombs planted by militants.
If the situation prevailed, Sher Zamin warned that people may face serious shortage of food and medicines.
Muhammad Rahman Danish, Naria district chief, said that they will soon step into action to ensure security of the road. He added that blocking road showed hostility of the Taliban with general masses.
Taliban denied the reports and said that they have blocked the route before convoys of Afghan security forces only.
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban a few days back demolished a girls’ school and a medical center in the district.
