Taliban storm checkpoint in Kunduz, kill 15 security personnel
AT-KABUL: Fifteen security forces have been martyred early Monday after Taliban militants attacked their check post in the northern Kunduz province, official said.
The incident took place in Qala-e Zal district as they gathered to eat a pre-dawn meal before fasting, Aminullah Ayaddin, a provincial council member, told dpa.
District chief Safdar Haidar said the militants launched a coordinated attack on a security check-post in the Aqtepa area of the district late on Sunday night.
According to him, five Afghan National Army soldiers and ten Afghan National police were killed.
This is another bloody attack against the Afghan security forces days before to start of a holiday ceasefire with the Taliban. The Taliban insurgents welcomed ceasefire with announcing three days truce from first Eid to 3rd.
However, since that, Taliban insurgent intensified attacking security forces as in the past days over 50 security forces were martyred in different provinces in different attacks.
