Taliban to build new constitution for Afghanistan

AT

Kabul: The Taliban Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that efforts are underway to draft a new constitution and replace it with the current law.

After the fall of the former government, the fate of the constitution in Afghanistan remained tentative.

He added that, efforts are being made to make the new constitution and restructure the remaining elements of the system.

On the other hand, some political figures considered the constitution as one of the most important needs in Afghanistan and asked the governing body to speed up its drafting.

Gul Rahman Ghazi, the head of the supervision of the implementation of the constitution of the previous government, said in this regard: “The constitution is the basis and foundation of a government and the legitimacy of the government, which should be done as soon as possible.”

This is despite the fact that, the leader of the Taliban, recently said that all the laws and regulations that have been in force in Afghanistan in the last two decades will be reviewed by religious scholars.

In the audio message attributed to the leader of the Taliban, published by the spokesperson of this group, he emphasized: All orders and laws that are in conflict with Sharia will be canceled.

Mullah Hebatullah also added that by canceling non-Sharia laws, they will create a pure Sharia system.

He added: “Our determination is to establish a pure Sharia system in Afghanistan.”

The previous constitution was formed under former Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
