Taliban’s shadow governor among 19 killed in Kapisa

AT-KABUL: The Minister of Interior Monday said that Taliban’s shadow governor for Kapisa province is among 19 others killed in an operation conducted Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Gul Haidar, the group’s shadow governor for the north-eastern Kapisa province, and Mulavi Ehsanullah, Taliban’s shadow district governor for Taghab district that was killed during an overnight operation of the Afghan and US forces, a statement from the ministry added.

17 more terrorists killed and two arrested, it said, adding ammunition and IEDs were confiscated upon their detentions.

The operation that took place in Gada Khil Vilalge of Tagab has also left one soldier dead with one other injured.

The killing of key Taliban members is part of counterterrorism efforts of the Afghan security forces to suppress the insurgency by taming their activities.
