KABUL: At least 93 Taliban fighters were killed and 38 others wounded during operations carried out by the Afghan national security forces in different provinces over the past 24 hours.
Afghan national defense and security forces supported by the air forces targeted Taliban hideouts in the districts of Panjwae, Zherai, Arghandab and Dand of the southern Kandahar province during which 36 militants were killed and six others wounded, ministry of defense said Monday in a statement.
The statement said that five anti-vehicle mines planted by Taliban on public road to target civilians and military members were discovered and defused.
It stated that 14 insurgents were killed and six others wounded in an airstrike in the districts of Qaisar, Yangi Qala and Shirin Tagab of northern Faryab province.
13 Taliban rebels were killed and nine others wounded during operation conducted by Afghan forces in Chora district of Uruzgan, the statement added.
The statement said that three of Taliban strongholds were destroyed along with three motorbikes and some weapons.
Eight militants were killed and six other wounded in an airstrike in the Baghlan Markazi district of northern Baghlan province, noted statement.
Also 22 Taliban insurgents were killed and 11 others wounded during crackdowns carried out by Afghan forces in Shirzad and Hesarak districts of the eastern Nangarhar province, mentioned in the statement.
Statement said that number of villages cleared from the insurgents and some weapons of the enemy destroyed during operations as well.
