AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Terrorism will have dangerous consequences at regional and international levels if the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the international community looked the other way to cooperate Afghanistan in war on terror, said the Foreign Affairs Minister, Salahuddin Rabbani.
He told the SCO summit the other day in Moscow that terrorism has threatened innocent human lives and peace without knowing any state boundaries.
He said Afghanistan was one of the frontline states against terrorism for the last two decades. He said terrorism in Afghanistan not an entirely internal phenomenon but closely linked with regional affairs.
He said the Afghan security forces fight against the Taliban, the Haqqani Network, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Uzbekistan Islamic Movement, al-Qaeda, and now Daesh militants. “Afghanistan is not the only target of these militants groups; they have regional and international targets. Our security forces are sacrificing their lives daily to prevent their progress,” Rabbani said.
He said the Afghan security forces are not sacrificing their lives to protect only Afghans; they sacrifice their lives to support the lives of people and peace at regional and international levels.
He said that Afghanistan cannot stand alone against terrorism; it needs regional and international cooperation in this regard.
Rabbani held talks with his Iranian and Tajik counterparts at the sidelines of the summit where they discussed strengthening Afghanistan’s relations with Iran and Tajikistan.
