Terrorists behind police cadets attack killed in Wardak

AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security said Sunday that a group of nine terrorists linked with the Haqqani network were killed, adding that they were perpetrators of the attack on the police cadets’ convoy in June in Wardak province.

Two suicide bombers hit five buses of the cadets, leaving at least 30 people killed and 58 others wounded.

In a press statement, the intelligence agency said that its operatives killed nine terrorists while two others were detained in an operation in the Badam area of Wardak.

“They were under the command of local commanders named Fatah and Izami, two of the Haqqani terrorist network commanders to conducted terrorist activity in the province,” the statement said.

It added that the intelligence forces also seized a suicide vest, four motorbikes, a machine gun, two Kalashnikov assault rifles with some ammunition in the insurgents’ hideout.
