5 killed in Badghis due to cold weather

Kabul: Local sources in Badghis province say that five people died as a result of severe cold in this province.

These people died on Sunday, in Qads district of Badghis province, 8AM reports.

As the unprecedented cold wave arrived in Afghanistan, which brought heavy snowfall and storms, it was reported that thousands of cattle were also lost in several provinces of Afghanistan.

Local sources in Badghis province reported the loss of more than a thousand cattle due to the severe cold in this province, and at the same time, herds of cattle were also lost in Sare Pol province due to the cold weather.

Although the exact statistics of the animals that perished due to the cold have not been accurately reported, some media have stated that the number is more than four thousand animals.

The local sources in Sare Pol Province also said that large number of livestock has been lost in some the districts of this province which are mostly sheep.

According to the Department of Meteorology a cold wave has entered Afghanistan and has covered all the provinces.

According to the evaluations of this department, the cold weather entered the country at the end of last week and will continue until the end of this week.
