Three civilians killed in Kunar operations

KABUL: At least three civilians were killed in an operation launched jointly by Afghan and foreign forces in the eastern province of Kunar, local residents said Sunday.

The incident took place in the Marawara district Saturday night.

The district residents staged demonstration on Sunday carrying the bodies of dead people. They called on the government to stop the night raids.

Night raids and aerial attacks are launched to target militants, but they usually and mistakenly target civilians. Former President Hamid Karzai usually raised voice against such attacks. The night raids were stopped during his tenure.
