Three Taliban rebels killed by own mine blast in Herat

AT News

KABUL: At least three Taliban insurgents were killed after their own mine prematurely went off in western Herat province on Monday morning.

The incident took place in Adraskan district of the province, Herat Press Disk said in a statement.

According to the statement, the three killed Taliban militants were planning to place a mine in a public road in Gala Toot area of Adraskan district that exploded prematurely and killed the three of them.

It is worth mentioning that the Taliban militants often plant mines and IEDs to target Afghan security forces, but mostly it ends up in taking civilian lives in different provinces across the country.

On Thursday, five civilians, among them children, were killed in a roadside bomb in Kandahar. On Friday, 12 worshippers lost their lives in an IED placed inside their mosque in Kabul. The bloody blast occurred on the second day of Eid and diminished the prospect of clamminess as a result of the ceasefire declared by the Afghan and Taliban.

Prior to that, a deadly bomb blast took the lives of over 80 school students and injured over 150 others after three back-to-back blasts targeted their schools in Kabul.
