Throng of rebels killed in raids

AT-KABUL: At least 35 militants were killed and14 others wounded in multiple extensive military operations launched in the past 24 hours, security official said.

In a press release, Ministry of Defense, said Sunday that Afghan National Army (ANA) with the cooperation of the Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives, conducted operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Uruzgan, Faryab, Kunduz, Baghlan, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.

The press statement added that 35Taliban insurgents were killed and 14others wounded during the operations.

The Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ hideouts and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.

During these operations in the past 24 hours, 21 insurgents were killed and 10 others were wounded in the Nawa and Andar districts of Ghazni province, 10 insurgents were killed, four were wounded, one was arrested and enemy’s bases was destroyed in Trinkot city, the provincial capital of Uruzgan. Four motorcycles and four AK-47 rifles were seized as well. Four insurgents were killed in Garmser district of Helmand.

In past 24 hours,11 planed clearing operations,and101Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted76aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including16 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.

ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.

ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
