Two civilians killed in Baghlan rocket attack

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Taliban insurgents on Saturday fired a rocket that landed on a house in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of the northern Baghlan province, leaving at least two civilians dead and three others wounded, a provincial official said.

“A rocket fired by Taliban rebels struck a house in Shahi Khil village of Baghlan-e-Markazi district today afternoon, killing two innocent civilians and injured three others,” Hajji Mohammad Tawab told Xinhua.

All the victims, including women and children, belong to one family, the official asserted.

However, the Taliban insurgents did not comment into the issue so far.

This comes as clashes between the Afghan security forces and the Taliban insurgents are continuing in several parts of the country, especially in Helmand province.

In the past the interior ministry said police arrested a man for supplying arms to the Taliban in Baghlan province. The ministry said that the supplier was detained with two other armed insurgents in the Dushi district.

At the same time, a key Taliban commander Qari Zahir who was wounded in recent days in operation carried out by Afghan security forces in Chashma-e-Shir area of Baghlan was also detained.

The Taliban commander was arrested while the group wanted to transfer him for treatment to Kabul, due to injury sustained in Afghan forces operation recently, the interior ministry said in a statement that time.
