AT-KABUL: Members of Kabul Ulema Council called on the ex-President Hamid Karzai in his office on Tuesday.
Praising Karzai’s efforts in peace during his tenure, members of the council said they have witnessed wise leadership by the former president in different fields including peace, education, development and other sectors. “You have always raised the voice of peace. Your efforts will not be forgotten ever,” they told Karzai.
Maulvi Ataullah Faizani, Maulvi Azizullah Muflih and Maulvi Abdul Basir Haqqani spoke on behalf his colleagues in the meeting.
They said it is their duty to leave no stone unturned in rehabilitation and reconstruction of Afghanistan. “We should stay united to serve our religion and the country,” the scholars added.
They nudged the ex-president not to forget them from his advices and directions in leadership of their movement. They also urged Karzai to support them in their mission to support unity among Afghans.
Karzai said he is happy to hear that the ulema are well aware of the current situation. “I praise you patriotism and your love for the sacred religion of Islam,” he said.
He added that as a citizen of this country he will pay all out efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan and will always serve the people of this nation. “We are the sons of this soil and it is our duty to serve this soil honestly,” he concluded.
