UN to draw support for Afghan health sector

KABUL: The UN agency of World Health Organization is seeking international support for the Afghan health sector, public health ministry said.

The ministry said in a statement that the acting minister, Dr. Qalandar Ebad held a meeting with Ramiz Alakbarov, UN deputy special representative of the Secretary-General, and Dr. LuoDapeng, WHO’s appoint man for Afghanistan.

The acting minister urged the officials to facilitate essential assistance to the health ministry to provide health services for the people in need across the country.

According to the statement, the participants stressed on resolving the problems that laid ahead of the health care system. The UN and WHO officials hoped for a positive response to be given by the international financial assistants to the Afghan health facilities.
