Uruzgan Police Chief Killed in Kabul

The police chief of central Uruzgan province, Matiullah Khan, was killed in a suicide bombing Wednesday evening in capital city of Kabul, officials said.

Khan who was the cousin of former Uruzgan governor Mohammad Jan was killed in police distrcit six of Kabul when a suicide bomber in a women dressing detonated his explosives near Ali Mardan mosque, said Dost Mohammad Nayab, spokesman of Uruzgan acting governor.

Belonging to Popalzai tribe, Khan had come to Kabul in a formal visit, Nayab added.

It is said that Khan was the head of a private security company before he was appointed as the police chief of Uruzgan.

The Kabul Police officials, however, are yet to confirm Khan’s death but had earlier said that a dead body was found in yesterday’s suicide attack scene who they said was an unknown person. (Tolo News)
