“The project costs about $ 31,000 funded by US embassy to provide professional trainings for our staff.”

She added that the center would help the female employees of the ministry in improvement of their professional skills.

She said that the ministry succeeded to eradicate 40 percent of opium farmlands in different parts of the country last year.

She stressed insecurity as a serious challenge before the fight against narcotics in Afghanistan and, saying that it was impossible to overcome the challenge without the cooperation of the international assistance.

“We have difficult year ahead, Afghan government has particular policy for elimination of opium and narcotics, but our plan needs financial cooperation and international support.”

Officials in Ministry of Counter Narcotics say the ministry was only a policy maker body that provides policy for relevant administrations and highlighted those ministries that implement the policy, have serious responsibilities to struggle against narcotics.
