KABUL: United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has said his country will not provide funds directly through Taliban government until they fulfill their pledges including forming inclusive government.
Jake told CNN that the US will focus only on providing funding through international and non-government organizations to the people of Afghanistan.
“We are not yet in a position to be able to provide money directly through the current leadership in Afghanistan, Until we see a substantially improved approach to everything, from the inclusive government to other elements that we are discussing with them regularly,” said Sullivan. “Our focus is going to continue to be on providing funding through international organizations and non-government organizations.”
In the meantime, Afghan political and economic analysts believe that none of the international aid will prevent Afghanistan’s economic crisis if the country’s foreign assets are not released.
The Taliban have repeatedly said that the Islamic Emirate will work on an inclusive government and some changes will be seen in the cabinet.
“We will make efforts to bring changes to the cabinet as the people want; the cabinet will include all ethnicities and educated figures,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, the Islamic Emirate spokesman.
The US security adviser’s speeches come as the US Secretary of State said that Washington provides $144 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, but no details are available yet about sending aid to Afghanistan.
