Uzbekistan foreign minister: Afghanistan should not be isolated

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan continued to express concern about the decrease in the attention of the international community to Afghanistan and added that the general priority of the world community should be the revival of Afghanistan’s economy and the implementation of infrastructure and important social projects.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Nurov, called for the prevention of Afghanistan’s isolation at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Sputnik, he said in his speech: “We consider it inappropriate to isolate Afghanistan and leave it alone with its existing problems; this will undoubtedly have negative consequences for regional and international security.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan continued to express concern about the decrease in the attention of the international community and added that the general priority of the world community should be the revival of Afghanistan’s economy and the implementation of infrastructure and important social projects.

According to him, the support of the United Nations, international financial institutions and donor countries is needed to solve these problems.

The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan also called for the creation of a special humanitarian fund for Afghanistan in Termez, which funds will be used to prevent social crisis, educational programs for youth and projects in the health sector.
