War rages on despite talks of peace; Miller

KABUL: Scott Miller, general commander for the US and NATO troops in Afghanistan, says that war is still continuing despite efforts for seeking a way to peace is going on.

Taliban who agreed for the first time to sit with a delegation from Afghan government are now busy in talks with the government’s team since September 12 in Qatar to end the long war and find ways for peace.

Miller said in his visit to the northern province of Balkh that the Afghan defense and security forces have better and more achievements in the battle ground despite being in a defensive position.

Miller was accompanied by Afghan army’s officials in his trip to Balkh, where they evaluated security situation in north in general and particularly in Faryab province, discussing new security plans for the northern areas.

No details were provided about the new security plan.
