With 414 cases, Afghanistan sees highest single-day spike

KABUL: Afghanistan has registered 414 new covid-19 patients in the past 24 hours—the highest number since the Afghan health ministry boosted its testing capacity to over 1,000 samples per day.

The total cases have reached to 6,053 across Afghanistan, according to the Health Ministry data on Friday.

The new cases are included as; Kabul 162, Herat 132, Nangarhar 26, Samangan 19, Kandahar 13, Paktia 12, Laghman 8, Ghazni 2, Helmand 1, Kunduz 5, Jawzjan 9, Faryab 6, Zabul 5, Paktika 4, Kapisa 2, Badakhshan 3, Sar-e-Pul 1, Daikundi 1 and Khost 3.

Kabul has been remained top on the list with 1,718 positive cases of coronavirus.

17 covid-19 patients died within 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 153—and the total number of recuperative is 745.

As of Friday, 20,854 people have been tested for Coronavirus across the country.

Afghanistan has witnessed rise in the cases of coronavirus pandemic at a time when the people are ignoring the threat, and are out in streets like normal days. The lockdown is seemed to have broken as Kabul streets once again flowed with the people. The flown of people can be proven danger, and the health ministry had repeatedly calling on the residents to pay serious heed to the health advices in a bid to stop the wild spread of the virus.
