9 Pakistani soldiers killed in suicide attack

KABUL – Nine soldiers were killed on Thursday in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan after a motorcycle-borne suicide bomber struck a military convoy and set off explosives.

The attacker detonated explosives upon impact, causing a significant explosion that also left five soldiers injured. Some reports suggest that the number of injured may be as high as 20, according to security officials.

The responsibility for this horrific attack has been claimed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a home-grown Taliban group operating in Pakistan, as reported by news agency PTI.

The army’s media wing described the assailant as a “motorcycle-borne suicide bomber” and noted that additional security forces swiftly secured the area following the incident.

In response to this tragic event, the media wing released a statement emphasizing the determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate terrorism. They added that the sacrifices made by these courageous soldiers only strengthen their resolve in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
