AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Ministry of Education (MoE) expressed its deep concerns over recent attacks on schools.
Kabir Haqmal, spokesman for the MoE, told Azadi Radio that anti-education elements have surged their attacks on schools.
Militants reduced three schools to rubbles over the past two weeks in eastern Afghanistan.
Haqmal urged concerned officials to let no stone unturned to stop militants from targeting schools. He said that such attacks could hinder the ministry’s efforts to reopen closed schools.
“We are not getting good news about security of schools over the past two weeks. If the situation prevailed, it will affect reopening of closed schools as well as enrollment of more children in school,” he warned.
Haqmal called on security organizations to ensure better security of schools and staffers of the MoE.
He said that the ministry will soon devise a plan for construction of new buildings for schools.
“We recently had a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani, where he assigned us to devise a comprehensive plan for construction of new buildings for schools,” Haqmal added.
