The first blast took place in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar, early Monday morning at 8:00am, when students were on way to school. Two students were killed and one injured in the roadside blast, spokesman for the Provincial Police, Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, said, who added injured was evacuated to hospital soon after the bomb blast.

Six other civilians were killed and two others were injured when the car they were traveling in struck a roadside mine in Achin district of the province.
