Kabul: As the first anniversary of the Taliban take over approaches, the European Union’s special representative for Afghanistan has said that the EU’s assistance to Afghanistan is conditional on the establishment of an inclusive government.

Thomas Nicholson, the European Union’s special representative for Afghanistan, tweeted today (Sunday, 14 August) that the EU’s contribution to peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region requires an inclusive political process in the country.

Nicholson added: “Peace, stability and prosperity in Afghanistan require an inclusive political process with the full, equal and meaningful participation of all men and women.”

He has also emphasized on the observance of human rights by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

These statements are made while a year has passed since the Taliban regain control of Afghanistan, and yesterday the Prime Minister of the Taliban has warned their troops and officials against violent and arbitrary behavior.
