AT Kabul: Recent floods in Afghanistan have caused extensive devastation, with approximately 10,000 hectares of land destroyed, as reported by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA). The affected agricultural lands, primarily located in the eastern and southeastern regions of the country, suffered irreparable damage due to the recent deluge. OCHA highlighted the unprecedented nature of the rainfall in April, which has not been witnessed in the past 40 years. Tragically, the natural disaster has claimed the lives of at least 10 individuals in Uruzgan, Herat, and Helmand provinces. Furthermore, the Ministry of Migrants and Returnees, affiliated with the Taliban, revealed that 1,733 families have been displaced in Ghor province alone, forced to seek refuge in makeshift shelters following the floods. The aftermath of these calamitous events underscores the urgent need for coordinated humanitarian efforts to assist those affected and mitigate further suffering in the region.
