AT-KABUL: Afghan security forces recaptured Chahardara district of northeastern Kunduz province, said the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The MoI in a statement said that security forces recaptured the district in a joint operation on Tuesday morning. It added that security forces have inflected heavy casualties on militants during the operations.
The statement said that more than 85 militants have been killed in the operations, while 15 others wounded. Clearance operations against militants are currently underway in different parts of the district, it added.
The Taliban militants captured Chahardara and Dasht-e-Archi districts of the province this week. Militants have intensified their terrorist activities in Afghanistan’s north recently.
