KABUL – The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior Affairs has reported the destruction of a vast 51-acre expanse of hashish fields in the northeastern province of Badakhshan. As part of their rigorous anti-narcotic operations, the dedicated counter-drugs police personnel of Badakhshan took decisive action in Baharak district, eliminating the illicit hemp.
The statement highlights their unwavering commitment to eradicating narcotics and hashish production across the nation. This recent operation represents just one in a series of efforts undertaken by the anti-narcotics police personnel, who have already thwarted drugs and hashish cultivation on hundreds of acres of land in various provinces.
Furthermore, it has come to light that the Taliban, as part of their anti-narcotic initiatives, have claimed responsibility for obliterating 51 acres of illicit hemp fields in Badakhshan province. They assert similar accomplishments in other regions, where they have effectively dismantled various illegal drug operations spanning hundreds of acres.
It is worth noting that while the Taliban has taken measures to curb heroin trafficking since assuming power, the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime has sounded the alarm regarding the surge in methamphetamine trafficking in and around Afghanistan in recent years. This development suggests a noteworthy shift in the illicit drug market dynamics.
