Kabul: Afghanistan’s Chief of Army Staff, has accused the United States of violating Afghan airspace, alleging that American unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) intermittently breach Afghan airspace.
According to reports from the local media outlet on Wednesday, He stated, “American drones occasionally traverse Afghanistan’s airspace, conducting patrols, and the airspace remains under American presence.”
Although he blamed “one of the neighboring countries” for enabling the U.S. drone operations from its territory over Afghan airspace, he did not specify the name of the country, as reported by Xinhua.
Following the departure of U.S.-led forces from Afghanistan in August 2021, ending a two-decade-long military presence, Fitrat emphasized the strength of Afghan armed forces, estimating it at 500,000 personnel, including army, police, and intelligence members.
Fitrat noted that the current interim Afghan government oversees a national army of 172,000 personnel, with ongoing efforts to increase its size to 200,000.
