16 arrested over drug charges
AT-KABUL: The law enforcement has arrested 16 individuals on charges of drug trafficking over the past week, said officials.
The court of Criminal Justice Task Force on Tuesday in a press statement said that 16 smugglers were arrested by the counternarcotic law enforcement in several crackdowns in various provinces and were handed over to CJTF for criminal proceedings.
Two smugglers were arrested in different crackdown in Hamid Karzai international airport in Kabul, who planned to transfer heroines to India, added statement.
Statement said that that the investigation is going on over the dossier of the all indicts by the CJTF, which after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides the CJTF will convict the accused traffickers, added statement.
The remained 14 other drug traffickers were arrested from Kabul, Jawzjan, Nangarhar, Laghman and Herat provinces.
Some 16 kg heroin, over 101kg opium, 444 kg hashish, 34kg pressure and 1kg crystal discovered and seized from the arrested smugglers, noted the statement.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and will be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics law of Afghanistan.
On the other hand 10 drug traffickers were convicted to prison from four year to 16 years by the primary and appeal court of CJTF in the past one week, underlined the statement.
