AT-KABUL: Unidentified armed men stopped a bus in Shahjoi district of southern province Zabul on gunpoint and kidnapped 30 Hazara passengers yesterday afternoon, said officials.
Security Head of Zabul, Ghulam Jailani Farahi, said that the bus was bound to Kabul from Herat when stopped by the unknown gunmen and forced 30 passengers of the Hazara ethnic minority to disembark.
He said the armed men were wearing masks. “Eye witnesses said that they [kidnappers] covered their faces with masks. So nobody saw their faces. However, we are investigating the case and a forensic team has reached the spot,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior in a media statement issued here said that it has taken measures to secure safe release of the passengers.
The kidnapped people were shifted to the Kundposht area of Shahjoi district, the ministry claimed.
