KABUL: The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) broke into a pair of Taliban prison in southern Zabul province and freed 53 prisoners—both military personnel and civilians held by the Taliban, security institutions said Friday.
ANDSF raided a Taliban terrorist prison in Ulam village of Daichupan district of the province, freeing the prisoners, the ministries of defense and interior said in a statement.
53 prisoners who were freed are included four commandos, four police officers, four local police, 32 Afghan National Army, one from National Directorate of Security, and 8 civilians, the statement said.
During the raid eight Taliban insurgents were also killed, the statement said without giving further details.
In the wake of ongoing peace efforts, the ANSDF escalated attacking Taliban insurgents across the country as they killed at least 30 Taliban fighter in Sangin district due to airstrikes of Resolute Support in coordination with ANDSF.
Moreover, five Taliban terrorists were killed in Badakhshan as a result of cleaning operation of ANDSF in Tagab district. One rocket launcher, and 1 AK47 were also seized.
Furthermore, 12 Taliban terrorists were killed or wounded in Ghazni province in airstrikes of RS in coordination with ANDSF.
Six Taliban terrorists were killed, and some other were wounded, where three automobiles and three motorbikes of the enemies were also destroyed.
