Afghan, foreign troops take women during Helmand raid

AT News Report

KABUL: People in the southern province of Helmand claim that the Afghan and foreign forces have taken women as hostage in a joint operation launched in the Nad Ali district.

Local residents staged a demonstration on Tuesday to protest the incident that took place Monday night in the Babaji area, KabulNews reported Tuesday. They said at least two women were taken hostage.

The protestors warned of “dangerous consequences” of the incident if the government does not investigate.

The Afghan Human Rights Commission denounced the incident as a “war crime”, asking the international tribunal to seriously investigate it and punish the culprits.
