Airstrike silences Daesh radio in Nangarhar

AT-KABUL: The ‘Voice of Caliphate’ radio station of the Islamic State (IS) which is also known as Daesh, was destroyed in a drone strike Wednesday in the eastern Nangarhar province, officials said.

This is the second Daesh channel destroyed in a drone strike in the Mohmand Dara area of Achin district, provincial governor spokesman Attaullah Khogianai said.

The station was broadcasting illegally across Nangarhar, spreading the group’s extremist messages and issuing threats to the people and governmental staffs in the provincial capital Jalalabad.

Daesh is also attempting to recruit young men through broadcasting massages through radio.

The first Daesh radio station has been destroyed in February this year by drone strike as well.

The second Daesh radio station started broadcasting in month of May.

A number of Daesh loyalist fighters were also killed in the airstrike, but no exact information in hand, he added.
