AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and briefed him on the last night attack on the Indian Consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province.
According to a media statement issued by the India’s premier office, President Ghani also condemned the terrorist attack on the Indian air force base in Pathankot. He extended condolences at the loss of lives in the attack. Seven Indian soldiers were killed in the attack.
Narendra Modi said that people and government of India would always stand with Afghans.
“Prime Minister conveyed that India would always stand with the people of Afghanistan,” the statement said.
The Indian premier commended the Afghan security forces for the exemplary bravery and courage in thwarting the terrorist attack in Mazar-i-Sharif and ensuring security and safety of the Indian Consulate and personnel, the statement added. Modi thanked President Ghani for his message of support.
