AT-KABUL: Finance Minister, Eklil Hakimi on Saturday met with Hakam Khan Habiib, governor of Khost province at his office, where the two discussed provincial development projects.
“They discussed economic conditions of this province, developing and infrastructure projects, construction of industrial parks, airport and roads in this province, brining reforms and some other important subjects,” the Ministry of Finance quoted the officials in a statement, as saying.
According to the statement, Hakimi asked the governor to identify projects that can have national benefits, and facilitate generating revenues and meanwhile put a positive impact on the people’s lives.
It is worth mentioning that a number of people in eastern Khost, at the beginning of the National Unity Government, took out to the streets and said that President Ashraf Ghani has failed to fulfill promises he has made with the residents of the province during his election campaigns.
At the time, the demonstrators said that they face huge problem while traveling to the Persian Gulf countries. An international airport shall be built in the province to facilitate travel of people to the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, they were asked in that time.
