Jowzjan police chief concerned over influx of Uzbek militants along with families

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Uzbek militants along with their families have moved to northern Jawzjan province, following offensive by Security forces in Faryab province, said a security official in Jowzjan.

Jawzjan police chief, Faqir Muhammad Jowzjani, said that the militants were settled in Faryab province. “The militants along with their families escaped to some district of Jowzjan after that security forces conduct a clearance operation against insurgents in Faryab,” ToloNews quoted Jowzjani as saying.

He said that most the families have moved to Qosh Tepa district of Jowzjan. He expressed his grave concerns that the foreign militants will play their role in further destabilizing the areas.

“The Uzbek militants are hell-bent on mounting insecurity in the Jowzjan. However, they are not capable to engage in direct fight against Afghan security forces,” Jowzjani added.

Dwellers of Sheberghan, the capital city of Jowzjan, commended Afghan security forces and said that they should spare no efforts to bring security in all parts of the province.
