Karzai condemns attack in France

AT-KABUL: Former president Hamid Karzai condemned Friday the terrorist attack in France’s Nice that killed dozen people and wounded hundreds.

“The killing of children, women and innocent people is a clear act of terrorism. It is against human as well as contrary to all principles of human,” Karzai was quoted in a statement, as saying.

“Over the years, we the people of Afghanistan are suffering from terrorism, horror and aerial bombardment. Also, we are the victims so we can feel the pain and grief of the French people more than anyone else,” he added.

Karzai wished swift recovery for the wounded and patience for the families of the victims of this tragic accident, wishing the people of France who are the friends of Afghans, happiness and success.

A truck ploughed into a crowd in the French resort of Nice on Thursday, leaving more than 80 dead and 20 injured in an attack after a Bastille Dayfireworks display, prosecutors said.

The government of France said that the driver of the truck was shot dead after barreling down the palm-lined Promenade des Anglais, sending hundreds of terrified people fleeing and leaving the seaside path strewn with fallen bodies.
