Key Taliban member killed in Kunduz

AT-KABUL: The Afghan security forces in a military operation have killed Taliban’s deputy shadow district governor for Imam Sahib Abdul Rahman along with 13 others militants in northern Kunduz province, provincial police said on Wednesday.

The police said that 21 other insurgents were also received injuries during operation.

According to the police, the Afghan Air Forces supported Afghan security forces during operation that was carried out in the Imam Sahib district.

Two security forces were killed and three others were wounded, the police source said without giving further details.

It is worth mentioning that the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban after the militant group launched a series of attacks to take control of Qala-e-Zal and Dasht-e-Archi districts in restive Kunduz province.

Defense officials in that said that Afghan security forces are fighting the Taliban insurgents in Qala-e-Zal and Dasht-e-Archi districts of Kunduz province. Tens of them [Taliban] were killed and wounded, the official said, adding that the districts are under control of Afghan security forces.

In a press statement, Ministry of Defense said that at least 30 insurgents were killed in the past 24 hours in Qala-e-Zal district of Kunduz province.
