AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least nine security personnel have been killed in a roadside bomb blast during an operation against militants in the northern Balkh province, said local official on Sunday.
Provincial governor spokesman, Munir Ahamd Farhad confirmed the news, saying that several other security forces were also sustained injures in the overnight bomb blast occurred in Chamtal district.
He furthered that five insurgent were also killed and dozen others were received injuries in the recent counter-terrorism operation carried out by Afghan security forces in the province.
Prior to this, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) and Afghan military forces have conducted successful operations against Taliban insurgents. A factory, used for making suicide vests, sticky bombs and remote controlled bombs was discovered and confiscated by NDS operatives. Similarly, Taliban’s deputy intelligence chief, Mirwais was arrested in an operation in Shirabad area of Dehdadi district of Balkh province. Shortly before midnight on November, a vehicle laden with heavy explosives detonated in the vicinity of the German Consulate in Mazar, capital city of Balkh province in which four civilians were killed and 128 sustained deep injuries, including 19 women and 38 children. More clearing operation is the need of the hour to eliminate insurgents for the country.
