AT-KABUL: 110 prisoners including women were freed based on the decree of president from prison in western Herat province and 76 others’ imprisonment period reduced, officials said Tuesday.
Abdullah Azizi, director of Herat prison told Pajwok Afghan News that by the decree of the president, these prisoners released.
Azizi said that 17 female inmates were among the freed ones.
“Based on the decree, the imprisonment period of 76 others inmates have also reduced,” Azizi said.
Jamshid Saljuqi, an attorney in Herat said: “Those who commit fewer crimes, were part of the decree.”
According to Herat prison officials, there are 3,000 inmates include 147 female prisoners in the provincial prison.
