123 militants killed in military raids
AT-KABUL: At least 123 militants were killed and 36 others wounded after several crackdowns on insurgent strongholds within the past days.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) personal has conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar, Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Farah, Kandahar, Ghor, Badghis, Takhar, Faryab, Kunduz, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
Statement said that in these operations 123 insurgents including 12 Daesh loyalists were killed and 35 others wounded.
Afghan forces also arrested five suspects during operation and handed over them to judicial organs for further inquiry.
Afghan National and Defense Security forces shelled and bombed the enemies’ positions and sanctuaries by artilleries and air forces.
During these operations in the past 24 hours, 35 Taliban fighters were killed, 10 others wounded and some weapons seized in Jani Khil district of Paktia, 24 insurgents were killed, seven wounded and two stronghold of the enemy busted in Sherin Tagab and Qaisar districts of Faryab, 22 militants were killed and one wounded in Nadali, Marja district and Lashkargah the center of Helmand, 12 Daesh affiliates were killed in Saokai district of Kunar and 12 rebels were killed in Khogiani district of Ghazni province.
Similar, 11 militants were killed and five other wounded in Saghar district of Ghor, four insurgents killed and five other wounded in center of Badghis, two Taliban fighters were killed and four others wounded in Maiwand district of Kandahar, one militants were killed and four others wounded in Poshtrod district of Farah and five suspects arrested in center of Kunduz province.
In past 24 hours, 10 planed clearing operations, and 93 Special Forces operations conducted in different provinces; also, Air forces conducted 186 aerial operations supporting Afghan National army including 15 strikes on enemy’s sanctuaries.
ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
ANA as the nation’s defense forces are ready to give sacrifice to bring lasting peace and security to the people and are determined to eradicate terror groups in Afghanistan.
