Kabul: The World Food Program (WFP) announced that 2.3 million pregnant women in Afghanistan are suffering from malnutrition.

According to this organization that most people in Afghanistan do not have enough food to eat.

“Most of the people of Afghanistan, not only cannot eat nutritious food, but also do not have enough food to eat.”, WFP wrote on Twitter (x).

Two days ago, the World Food Program published a report saying that only 40% of pregnant and lactating women and 45% of children under five years of age are malnourished in Punjab district of Bamyan province.

Also, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced in August last year that the number of pregnant and lactating women suffering from malnutrition in Afghanistan has increased by 49%.

It should be noted that poverty and hunger in Afghanistan have increased after the rule since 2021.

Based on the latest statistics of the United Nations, more than one third of the country’s population is facing food shortages.
