KABUL: At least 26 Taliban militants have been killed and six others were wounded during latest crackdowns carried out by the Afghan security forces in different provinces in the past 24 hours, defense ministry said on Tuesday.
The Afghan Special Forces supported by the Afghan Air Forces (AAF) had targeted a Taliban stronghold amid at foiling the Taliban attack over security forces in Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand province, the ministry said.
At least 15 Taliban militants were killed and four others wounded in the attack.
200 handmade mines with some ammunition and three vehicles of the enemy were also destroyed in the district, the statement added.
Another 11 Taliban fighters were killed and two others wounded by the Afghan forces in Ghazni province.
They had planned to attack Afghan forces positions, when they were targeted by security forces, the statement added.
