KABUL: Aimed a war on drugs, the Courts of Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) on Tuesday said 29 drug traffickers have been sentenced to short and long incarcerations in the last one week.
CJTF in a press statement said that its primary and appeal courts have convicted 29 drug dealers to two to18 years of imprisonment.
Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) seized 58kg heroin, over 58kg morphine, 2120kg hashish and 8kg crystal from the aforementioned convicted drug runners, the statement added.
At the same period, CNP arrested 20 drug traffickers in different operations carried out across the provinces.
Out of 20 drug traffickers, three of them were those smugglers, who planned to smuggle drug through Hamid Karzai International Airport to India, who were identified and arrested.
According to the statement after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides the CJTF courts have convicted the accused traffickers, mentioned the statement.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense and would be convicted after separate judicial trials based on the evidence brought before the court and the Counter Narcotics Law of the country.
