Kabul: The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva announced in a recent report that nearly three quarters of the world’s internally displaced people live in only 10 countries: Syria, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ukraine, Colombia, Ethiopia, Yemen, Nigeria, Somalia and Sudan.
In the continuation of this report, the number of internally displaced persons in Afghanistan until December 31, 2022 was 4 million and 394 thousand people who were displaced due to conflicts, natural disasters and climate changes and are trying to find safe places and shelter.
The findings show that 723 thousand people have been added to the number of internally displaced people in Afghanistan since 2021, which is the highest number recorded by this center since its establishment in 2008.
The report also shows that in 2022, the number of internally displaced people in Afghanistan has increased by 32,000 people due to violence and conflict and 220,000 people due to natural disasters.
