5 killed, 53 injured in deadly bombing on Afghan Justice Ministry

AT-KABUL: At least five people have been killed and 53 injured by suicide car bombing in the parking lot of Afghanistan’s justice ministry building in Kabul, officials said.

Kabul Police Chief, Abdul Rahman Rahimi, told reporters at the scene of the attack that five people, including a woman, were killed in today’s attack, in which a suicide bomber targeted transportation vehicles of the justice ministry. Employees of the ministry were leaving for home during the attack.

It was the fifth major terrorist attack in the Afghan capital in a little more than two weeks by Taliban, who warned to increase their attacks against Afghan judicial organs for their misbehavior with Taliban prisoners.

Ismail Kawoosi, spokesman for the Health Ministry told Afghanistan Times that they have admitted 53 injured persons in hospitals and assured that most of the injured were in stable health condition.

Justice ministry building was located just a few hundred meters in distance from presidential palace and several government ministries.

Taliban claimed the credit for the deadly attack and said the suicide bomber has killed tens of employees to judicial organ of the government and justified it by saying it was revenge to the torture of militant prisoners by judicial organs of the government.
