AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Law enforcement agencies have seized more than 500 kilogram of drugs in Kunduz, Nimroz and Baghlan provinces, said officials on Tuesday.
In addition two suspects were also apprehended.
Kunduz police Chief Mohammad Jangal Bagh, told Pajhwok Afghan News that at least 180 kilogram of narcotics was seized from a truck which was approaching from Badakhshan to Kabul. He said two suspects were also arrested in a connection to the seizure in Kisa Topak area on Kunduz-Baghlan highway.
The chief of counter-narcotics Major Muhammad Pervez Sarwari said that anti-narcotic police have seized 126 kilograms of hashish during an operation in Chakhansor district of Nimroz province.
Sarwari said the narcotics were recovered from ruin places and packed in plastics. However, no one was arrested during the operation, he added.
Meanwhile, an official from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Baghlan said that the spy agency has seized 200 kilograms of hashish from a truck that was carrying coal from Samangan to Kabul.
It is worth mentioning that the Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics Baz Mohammad Ahmadi during his press conference in Kabul a couple of weeks ago said that more than 1,800 drug dealers were arrested and 100 tons of narcotics, alcoholic beverages were seized. Hundreds of vehicles and mobile sets were also seized during anti-narcotic operations. In the continuous anti-narcotics operations backed by air support, scores of drug factories were destroyed across the country this year.
