KABUL: The Afghan security forces have killed as many as 840 Taliban militants over the past 28 days across Afghanistan, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday.

The ministry’s spokesman, Tariq Arian said that 385 other Taliban militants were injured during this period.

The Taliban group has yet to make a comment on the announcement.

War has been intensified across the country. The Taliban group has not declared spring offensive this year, but the level of violence remains high with many fatalities. Both sides have suffered a lot during months of violence and deadly attacks. Scores of Afghan security forces were killed and wounded along in the past few days in different attacks claimed by the Taliban group.

Over 20 Afghan forces were killed in Talkar after the Taliban attacked their bases on Tuesday night.

Peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban started on 12th September in Qatari capital Doha, it seemed stalled with no progress despite spending a month with several meetings between peace teams to at least agree on a common ground to start the intra-Afghan talks with reduction in violence at top priority.
