Kabul: The International Committee of the Red Cross says that they are concerned about the increase in casualties caused by mine explosions and unexploded materials left over from wars, and serious attention should be paid to this issue.

This committee added: From January to June of this year, 392 incidents caused by mine explosions have been registered in Afghanistan, as a result of which 902 people have been killed.

The Red Cross stated that about 85% of the victims of these incidents are civilians, and at least 40% of them are children.

The International Committee of the Red Cross stated that mines and unexploded ordnance are a serious threat to the people of Afghanistan, and emphasized on their clearance.

Earlier, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) expressed concern about the causalities of children due to the existence of unexploded ammunition in Afghanistan.

According to the UN report, since 1988, unexploded ordnance in Afghanistan has killed or wounded more than 41,000 civilians, more than two-thirds of whose victims are children.
