AT-KABUL: Alokozay Group of Companies (AGC) on Monday signed a sponsorship agreement with Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) that will financially support the board for upcoming 10 years.
Chief Executive of ACB, Shafiqullah Stanikzai, head of Alokozai Group marketing Mirwais Siyal, deputy executive chief of the ACB Dost Mohammad Nazari, the ACB members and journalists attended the ceremony of signing the sponsorship pact.
The ACB chief executive, Shafiqullah Stanikzai, told newsmen that they need support for every department of the cricket board. “The ACB has been without financial supporter for past 18 months. Finding a financial support was one of our main goals,” he said.
As per the agreement, the ACB will receive $1.3 million on annual basis. The agreement will be renewed every three years after its assessment by the two parties.
Stanikzai said the amount will be spent on promotion of cricket, development of the national team and their international tours.
Appreciating the ACB achievements, Mirwais Siyal, said they have always struggled to support the young generation to improve their education, training and sports.
According to the ACB officials, the logo of Alokzay Groups and Companies will be used on cricket players’ uniform. Besides that, the local T-20 tournament will be named after the group.
Analysts believe that such supports and agreements paves the ground for better improvement of sports in the country. They suggest that such initiatives should be taken in other sports as well.
